Hello, friends!
As you might know already, my name is Ebba and I am a soon to be 18-year-old from Helsinki, Finland. I study in the Upper Secondary School of Fine Arts and have picked up many useful skills and techniques from my two years of studying in this school. I am now going to go through my life and how I ended up in this situation so if that isn't what you came here for, you can skip straight to my works of art.
My early life:
So I was born in 2001 in a beautiful town called Porvoo. Every time I visit that city, it just fills me with joy and inspiration. But that is not what I'm here to talk about. For most of my life I lived in Kotka with my parents. Even from an early age I found a passion towards drawing and scrapbooking. I guess you could say I was always the art teacher's pet. I drew some additional drawings exclusively for my art teachers just to get a good grade from my classes. For some reason it actually worked and I always got a perfect grade. My artistic tendencies were showing in other classes too. I used a lot of time and effort to make my school work, notebooks and presentations aesthetic and pleasing to the eye. And that, my friends, was how I found my passion for Powerpoint.
Music:
In third grade at around the ripe age of 9, I was picked to be in an exclusive class for musical people. We had more music and choir classes than all the other "regular" classes. I went there not knowing a single thing about music and I only knew how to play Smoke On the Water on a guitar. But I managed to get in and it was a whole new world for me. I found a new love towards playing the bass and that love never wore out. I did learn how to play many other instruments too like drums, piano, xylophone, guitar and many others. That class really got me into performing since we had an annual spring concert where we would perform the songs we had practiced throughout the year. Those were among the best years of my life and I will always remember my classmates and teachers fondly.
Digital Art:
I picked up digital art in fall 2018 after I got a drawing tablet as a birthday gift. Ever since I have been practicing hard and I have learned many new skills. I had zero experience on digital painting before that so it took me a good amount of time to adjust to the new technology and techniques. I think I have come far, though, and my digital art doesn't look even half as bad as it did less than a year ago. My goal is to learn and evolve more so that I can become a full-time illustrator, concept artist or a game graphics designer.
Photography:
Photography isn't really something I take as seriously as drawing or painting. It is a fun hobby of mine and it has been so for years. I have no intentions in making it a career or a serious investment, I just like to have a little fun and take photos of things that I find beautiful. With my photos I love to bring out tiny colour accents in otherwise bleak environment and make people notice that even boring and ordinary things can be beautiful. You just have to look at it with the right eye. Among my photos is a picture quite literally taken of a trash can. Why? I thought it had a beautiful colour and with the coloured bench in the background, it really made an impact to me. I found the trash can beautiful (as weird as it may sound) and that is exactly what I want to bring to the world with my photos. I want people to see the beauty in objects we might otherwise view as ordinary or even disgusting.
